Recommended if you like me.

As an independent singer/songwriter, I've been around a long time. Despite my lack of widespread exposure it's very fulfilling whenever I can seep into the general media.

This past week two of my favorite artists released new albums (I'll be going out to buy both records in the coming days). The Eels and and Freedy Johnston have both influenced my own writing and production, and I've been compared to both artists when my own albums have been reviewed (especially Freedy).

This week in the blogosphere I stumbled upon the reverse phenomenon: The Eels and Freedy have been compared to me!!

A music blog called Eat Sleep Drink Music reviewed the new Eels album, and listed under RIYL (Recommended If You Like...) they wrote this:

RIYL: Grant Lee Buffalo, Parthenon Huxley, Jonathan Rundman

Holy cow! And I got included with Parthenon, too! Another favorite of mine!

In addition, the alt-country blog Hickory Wind reviewed the new Freedy Johnston album this week. They wrap up their review with this:

For fans of Matthew Sweet, Nick Lowe, Tommy Keene and Jonathan Rundman.

It sure is nice to be so casually included with artists Sweet, Lowe, and Keene, all who own massive chunks of my own iPod playlist.

Thanks to the Eat Sleep Drink Music and Hickory Wind writers for thinking of me!
